Sky presenter Simon Thomas has thanked a stranger on social media for a kind note left for him in a cafe near his home.
The 45-year-old recently experienced a devastating loss, when his wife Gemma passed away just days after being diagnosed with blood cancer.
Since, he’s been open in speaking about his gut-wrenching loss, and how it’s affected him and their 8-year-old son, Ethan.
But now, Simon has shared a little of the lighter stages of grief, after revealing that a kind stranger had made a heartfelt gesture for him in a local cafe.
On Twitter, he wrote, “Some wonderfully kind people out there. Someone left this in @nomadrdguk today. Whoever you are – thank you. God Bless.”
Attached to the post was a picture, which was addressed to Nomad Bakery.
It read, “Please could you take this as payment next time Simon Thomas comes in with his son Ethan for a drink and a cake!
“Let him know everyone is wishing them both strength and happiness.”
What a sweet gesture.
While Simon was evidently grateful for the kind act of good will – fans also flocked to the post to share their amazement at the lovely move.
One wrote, “Oh wow that is so lovely! Go people of Caversham x”
While another agreed, “Nice to know there is some genuinely nice people about…top gesture that “
A third follower also wrote, “Wow, what an act of kindness!!!”, while a fourth said, “Some people are so kind. Enjoy your cake xx”
The Nomad Bakery is an independent coffee shop in Reading – and clearly, a frequent favourite of Simon’s near his home.
The lovely move comes just days after Simon brought viewers to tears, discussing his heartbreaking loss live on This Morning.
Discussing the moment he told his son his mother had passed away, he admitted, “You can’t dress it up. I said: ‘Mummy’s died’.
“He collapsed on the floor and I collapsed there with him.
“He’s been dealt a tough break in life at the age of eight, he’s lost his mum already.”
Dad-of-one Simon also left Holly and Phil extremely emotional with his story – with the pair both bursting into tears.
All our thoughts are with Simon Thomas and his family at this tough time.
