Karen Clifton is reportedly dropping her surname in a bid to cut ties with ex-husband Kevin once and for all, amid claims she is annoyed over his blossoming romance with Stacey Dooley.
The Strictly star is believed to be returning to her maiden name, Karen Hauer, in time for the new series of the BBC One dance show.
According to reports, tensions reached an all-time high between the former couple after Kevin denied having feelings for journalist Stacey, who he won the show with in December last year.
“Karen confronted Kevin about his relationship with Stacey at the end of the last series but he was adamant it was purely platonic,” a source told The Sun.
“Kevin and Stacey insist they only started dating officially this month but Karen is still annoyed he wasnt more honest about the situation.
“She had been considering changing her name for a while but this has cemented her decision.
“This is Kevins business but she no longer wants to be linked to him. When the next series of Strictly starts shell be known as Karen Hauer.”
Karen and Kevin wed in 2015, but split in March last year and Karen has since been dating opera singer David Webb.
The dancer has so far stayed on good terms with Kevin following their split, and is yet to publicly comment on his new romance with Stacey.
Kevin even publicly wished his ex happy birthday on Saturday, commenting on a photo of Karen on Instagram as she celebrated turning 37.
He said, “Happy birthday U. Have a wicked one.”
Kevins message came after he paid tribute to new girlfriend Stacey, during a touching speech on the opening night of his new stage show Burn the Floor.
