Egypt will raise the price of subway tickets from July, which will increase the current price to three times for many passengers, the Egyptian newspaper said.
According to the newspaper, Transport Minister Hisham Arafat was quoted as saying: The ticket price will start from LE 2 for the first nine stations, and will increase to LE 9 for each additional station.
“The maximum ticket price will reach six pounds for the full line, but reduced subscriptions will be maintained for state employees, university students and schools.
It is noteworthy that the price of the ticket is currently two pounds, for any number of stations, including across the lines, and the newspaper said that this action comes as part of the government’s efforts to cover the additional costs of operation.
