On Tuesday, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge stepped out for their first joint royal engagement of the year.

The couple visited the Midlands city of Coventry, for a full day of visits, hand-shakes and talks, and were met with huge crowds of eagerly-awaiting fans.

But eagle-eyed royal observers spotted THIS outfit detail that potentially hints at the sex of Kate and William’s unborn baby – so did you spot it?

Six-months pregnant Kate wore an eye-catching hot pink coat by Mulberry for the trip, making sure to wrap up warm for the chilly weather.

And the royal’s choice of colour has left some presuming that the Duke and Duchess may well be expecting a girl.

Although it may seem like a bit of a jump, royal watchers pointed out that the Duchess had already worn the piece twice before. And both times where when she was pregnant with her daughter, Princess Charlotte.

Fashion fans keenly track Kate’s daily outfit choices. So the revelation means that the royal has only ever worn this coat out in public when she has in fact been pregnant with a girl.

It’s likely that William and Catherine will know the sex of their unborn baby by now (if they’re choosing to find out, that is). Most women find out at their ‘mid-pregnancy’ ultrasound, which is usually between 16-20 weeks. And given that the Duchess is expecting her third child in April, she’s likely to be past that point by now.

While, yes, this isn’t certain proof that the royal is expecting baby girl when she welcomes her bundle of joy later this year – it’s pretty much one of the only clues we’ve got so far…

The royal couple also kept tight-lipped about the sex of their baby when they were expecting both Prince George and Princess Charlotte, so it’s highly likely that they won’t reveal it this time around until the day their third bubba is born.

We guess we’ll just have to wait and see!
