Labour says 'Holocaust denier' is not being let back into the party
Mike Sivier was suspended last year

Labour has denied that an alleged Holocaust denier is being readmitted into the party.

The Sunday Times had reported that Mike Sivier, 48, was being let back into the party after his suspension last year for comments about Jews and Zionism.

However, a source told Metro.co.uk that his membership wasn’t being reinstated.

A tweet from Labour MP Anna Turley also confirmed this.

Have had clarification from the party that this article is not correct in saying that he has been re-admitted. I hope the NCC will make the right final decision in this case. Will watch with interest. https://t.co/GH2JYuDVnP

Sivier was suspended last year after apparently saying it ‘may be entirely justified’ to say Tony Blair had been ‘unduly influenced by a cabal of Jewish advisers’.

He was also accused of saying he was ‘not pretending it was a big problem’ if Jews were left off a list of Holocaust survivors, and claimed ‘I’m not going to comment’ on whether millions or thousands of Jews died in the Holocaust as ‘I don’t know’.

Questioning the proven death toll of the Holocaust to suggest that far fewer Jews were killed is a form of Holocaust denial.

Sivier denies the accusations of anti-Semitism.

It was reported that Labour reinstated his party membership on the condition that he attended a workshop about anti-Semitism.

However, Sivier has publicly declared that he would not attend any such course, adding: ‘I’m not accepting my readmission under the terms offered to me.’

Labour’s National Executive Committee reportedly voted 12 to 10 to issue Sivier a ‘warning’, but not to expel him.
