A £3 billion resort in the Bahamas is looking for a new CFO – and no, we’re not talking looking after its finances.

Baha Mar, a luxury beach resort, is looking for a new Chief Flamingo Officer, who will be in charge of taking care of the resort’s flamingos.

Yes, this is a real job and yes, we need to apply immediately.

The advert reads: ‘Baha Mar’s Chief Flamingo Officer serves as a working supervisor for all flamingo areas, collaborating with the Avian Curator, other Avian Managers and Aviculturist staff.

‘This position oversees the day to day operations of the flamingo collections and the staff that work in those areas to create a Beach Sanctuary experience that will leave a lasting impression on guests.’

The new Flamingo Officer will work alongside Baha Mar’s Chief Scientist, Vanessa Haley-Benjamin, who runs the Baha Mar Ecological, Aquatic Conservation Habitat Sanctuary (BEACH Sanctuary) at the resort, which is dedicated to preserving and protecting wildlife in the Bahamas.

Duties will include demonstrating knowledge of animal care, maintaining displays and exhibits – which includes a ‘Flamingo Mansion’, which features both indoor and outdoor elements – and monitoring the birds carefully for behavioural, reproductive and medical problems.

Sure, it sounds like a lot, but we are talking hanging with a bunch of pink flamingos on a luxury resort, people.

But just before you go forth and quit your job, it is important we note that you have to meet some specific criteria to be right for the job.

You must have a degree in zoology or a related field, and at least five years of experience working with and caring for exotic birds.
