Three back to back sessions of loss came to a halt today as the market got back on its feet. But the most standout show came from IT stocks, which lifted the overall indices.
Rupee's continued weakness against the dollar, Nasscom's upbeat projection and CLSA's preference for IT large caps acted as tailwinds for the software pack.
The benchmark Sensex closed up 0.42 per cent at 33,845 and the broader Nifty 0.36 per cent at 10,397.
HCL Technologies topped the percentage gainer list on the Nifty, up 4.14 per cent. A total of 29 firmed up and 21 lost.

Shares of Bharti Infratel registered the biggest jump in open interest at 65.05 per cent. Grasim Industries (46.42 per cent) and Godrej Consumer Products (46.14 per cent) took the second and third slots, respectively.
