Dear friends! It's great to have you at ETMarkets Evening Podcast.

I am Swati Verma who will bring you what happened during the day's trading, mixed with analysis from top market watchers.

It was the first day of the week and the market started off with a clean set of hands. Key stock indices Sensex and Nifty rallied for the second straight session, in line with gains in Asia, after US Fed officials predicted a steady economic growth and rate hike worries faded.

The Nifty jumped 0.87 per cent to 10,583. The 30-share Sensex settled up 304 points, or 0.89 per cent, at 34,446. Maruti Suzuki advanced most, up 4 per cent.

GDP, fiscal deficit and IIP data are all due this truncated week. Holi falls on Friday.

Nifty Realty was the leading gainer, jumping over 3 per cent. On the Nifty heatmap, 38 scrips went up and 12 declined.

We have with us Sanjeev Jain of Ashika Stock Broking sharing his thoughts on fundamentals.
