Moby thinks he helped Apple to invent the iPhone and iPod

The pop star Moby has claimed he played a key role in the invention of the Apple iPod and iPhone. iPhone and iPod.

Moby said he was offered the chance to try out an early iPod, before making the suggestion that it could be fitted with a phone and camera.

The singer and electronic musician suggested he’d been talking with Apple bigwig Jimmy Dickson about the need for Apple to create its own MP3 player.

Sure enough, the iPod was then released and he was handed one of the devices on the orders of Apple co-founder Steve Jobs.

In an interview with The Guardian, Moby said: ’A year or two later they brought me to a hotel room at the Crosby in New York, handed me the first iPod and said: ‘Steve wanted you to have this.’

‘I said: ‘You do know at some point this is going to have a camera and a phone attached to it?’

‘And they laughed at me and said that could never happen.’

And the rest is history.

‘I’m hesitant to talk about this because it sounds either like nonsense, or self-aggrandising,’ the vegan knob twiddler continued.
