Victoria Beckham, Melanie Brown, Gerri Horner, Melanie Chilsolm, and Emma Bunton – formerly known as the Spice Girls – sent 90s pop fans into meltdown earlier this month with the announcement they’re coming back together.
‘We are always overwhelmed at how much interest there is across the whole world for The Spice Girls. The time now feels right to explore some incredible new opportunities together,’ read a statement from the group’s publicist, Jo Milloy.
The statement came after the girl group met up at Geri Horner’s home to discuss a possible reunion, with Victoria sharing a photo to her 18.9 million followers.
‘Love my girls!!! So many kisses!!! X Exciting x #friendshipneverends #girlpower,’ she wrote alongside a picture of the quintet cuddled up together.
But while fans couldn’t be more excited for their comeback, it seems old tensions in the Spice Girls are not completely gone.
We can exclusively reveal Victoria and Geri are clashing already – with both of them trying their hardest to be Alpha Spice.
A well-placed source says: ‘Both Victoria and Geri feel there’s no point in trying to force a friendship. At this point they’re merely co-workers.
‘In Vic’s opinion, by holding the reunion meeting at her home, Geri was trying to assert her authority. But before she’ll even consider signing on the dotted line for a tour, she wants it in writing that they’ll all have equal say over any decisions made.’
Their feud dates back to 1998 when Geri quit the band, with Mel B later opening up, saying: ‘When Geri left the group, it was bad. She left on my birthday, and didn’t tell anybody… just didn’t show up. We had the rest of the tour. The American part of the tour.’
Let’s hope that working together again reminds Geri and Posh Spice that friendship never ends…
