Market Now: BSE Smallcap index down nearly 1%; Prakash Industries, Swan Energy plunge 7%

NEW DELHI: The BSE Smallcap index was trading 0.86 per cent down at 17,930 around 11:05 am (IST) on Monday.

Shares of Prakash Industries (down 7.06 per cent), Swan Energy (down 7 per cent), Sunflag Iron & Steel Company (down 6.99 per cent), Quess Corp (down 6.89 per cent), Gujarat NRE Coke (down 6.73 per cent), Diamond Power Infrastructure (down 6.20 per cent), Balrampur Chini Mills (down 6.12 per cent), Lux Industries (down 5.53 per cent), RPP Infra Projects (down 5.30 per cent), Genus Power Infrastructures (down 5.09 per cent), Godawari Power & Ispat (down 5 per cent) and KSK Energy Ventures (down 5 per cent) were among the top losers in the smallcap index

On the other hand, shares of Thomas Cook (India) (up 8.11 per cent), Phoenix Mills (up 4.82 per cent), Cox & Kings (up 4.35 per cent), Excel Industries (up 3.82 per cent), Lycos Internet (up 3.77 per cent), Caplin Point Laboratories (up 3.70 per cent), Sanghvi Movers (up 3.46 per cent), Bhushan Steel (up 3.12 per cent), Rane (Madras) (up 3.07 per cent), Eris Lifesciences (up 2.99 per cent), Pioneer Distilleries (up 2.93 per cent) and Saint-Gobain Sekurit India (up 2.62 per cent) were among the top gainers in the smallcap index around that time.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 106 points at 10,352, while the BSE Sensex was 300 points at 33,747.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 4 were trading in the green, while 46 were in the red.
