The edge of the flooded road was the only way people could get around the water to reach the train station.

According to reports, the burst pipe forced multiple road diversions and affected around 20 properties in south-west London.

Earlier today, Wandsworth Police tweeted a picture of the scene, near Tooting Broadway Station, that was strewn with debris as water gushed from a crack in the pavement.
‘Motorists and pedestrians are advised to avoid Tooting High Street, SW17 following a suspected burst water pipe. Road closures are in place,’ the tweet said.
