‘As my big sister, you inspire me’: Eugenie’s touching tribute to Princess Beatrice

Princess Eugenie yesterday offered up a poignant tribute to her older sister Beatrice, thanking her for being there for her through one of the toughest time of her life.

The royal siblings attended a prestigious event for WE day on 7th March, and took to the stage at Wembley Arena to deliver a speech. The day was held in support of the WE charity, for young children.

In Eugenie’s speech, she first shared with the audience how close she and her sister are.

She told Beatrice, 29, “As my big sister – you inspire me. I love that, as a team, we work hard to support each other – no matter what.” Aww!

But in a more poignant section of the talk, the royal went on to thank her sister for helping her to stay positive during her tough battle with scoliosis.

Eugenie shared, “When I was 12 I was diagnosed with, and treated for, scoliosis and I have lived with two 12 inch metal rods in my back.

“It could have impacted my life and stopped me from doing the things I love. You encouraged me not to get disheartened. Not to give up. To live fearlessly.

“Today, I am so lucky to get to work with and support other young women who are going through the same thing. To encourage them to not let their diagnosis win. To live fearlessly too.”

How lovely is that?

Newly-engaged Eugenie, 27, has often spoken about her close bond with her sis, sharing previously they they “love each other to death”.

And it seems that the pair’s mother, Sarah Ferguson was also proud of her girls for the touching speech, sending a sweet message of support on Twitter.

The Duchess wrote, “Leading by example of unity and confidence, well done @yorkiebea and Eugenie @WEMovement #WeDayUk #weday”

She also shared a picture which contained quotes from the royals inspiring speech.

Beatrice and Eugenie told attendees at the event, “Never give up. Find that tiny flame inside you that give you the belief you can change the world. And you don’t have to face anything alone.” Wise words indeed…

Fans also took to Sarah post to praise the young royals on their positive message.

One wrote, “These two were wonderful today, so good to see sisters being so supportive “. While another agreed, “It’s amazing how this generation of young royals is doing so well!!”
