A passenger slapped a bus driver and bit him on the face when he was asked to pay his bus fare.

The visibly drunk man – who remains unnamed – has been arrested and his two friends detained by authorities in Xi’an, Shaanxi, north-west China.

54 severed hands that washed up in a bag 'not suspicious', say Russian police

The driver of the city’s number 102 bus, Zhang, said all he did was remind the men to swipe their travel cards and pay for their trip.

He said: ‘He kept swearing at me. I had no choice but to stop the bus.’

During the fight Zhang reportedly does not respond once, even when the drunk man reportedly turned physical and slapped him on the face.

According to witnesses, the trio also attacked other passengers who tried to stop them from leaving.

Xi’an police arrived and detained all three. They face assault charges.

Zhang reportedly required hospital treatment for the bite wound on his face.
