FLIGHT: Virgin Atlantic have launched their first ever hand-baggage only ticket
After improving their economy service, Virgin Atlantic have launched their first ever hand-baggage only ticket.
The UK airline, founded by Sir Richard Branson, announced on Wednesday that economy passengers now have a choice of three ticket options.
From Spring 2019, passengers will be able to book an “economy light” fare – a cheaper ticket that restricts the traveller to hand-baggage only.
Virgin Atlantic said in a statement: “The new economy light ticket will always offer Virgin Atlantic’s lowest fare.”

Craig Kreeger, the airline chief, told the Independent: “All of our economy products – light, classic and delight – still include free drinks, the same food, the same frequency of service from our cabin crew. On board, economy is economy.
“But there are customers who have different expectations and want a choice, but not really compromising on any of the stuff on board.”
He added: “We know that one size doesn’t fit all and from Spring our customers can afford to be choosy and still travel in the UK’s leading economy cabin.
“We always want flying with Virgin Atlantic to be more special than other airlines and we’ll never compromise on excellent service, industry leading food and drink and cutting edge inflight entertainment – regardless of which economy ticket our customers are travelling on, they’ll be able to enjoy all this onboard.”
