There’s only a month to go before Kate Middleton and her husband Prince William will go from a family of four to a family of five, as they welcome their third baby.

And while the final countdown is a period filled with huge excitement, expectant parents will know it’s also a time tinged with nerves – something that has reportedly been heightened in recent weeks for the royal couple.

Due to their already busy schedule, including some official solo engagements, Kate, 36, and William, 35, have been forced to spend short periods apart – a fact that’s not gone unnoticed with the Duchess of Cambridge, who has asked her husband to try to lend more of a hand.

‘WILLIAM’S IN DENIAL’

During a solo visit to Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital in London, Kate recently revealed that ‘William’s in denial’ when it comes to the latest addition to their brood, currently numbering Prince George, four, and Princess Charlotte, two.

It was a light-hearted remark, but insiders tell Woman that the question of his readiness for the new arrival has been playing on her mind ever since.

A royal source tells us, ‘Kate and William can’t wait for baby number three, but with the pressures of family and royal life, Kate really wants him home as much as possible so that he can to pull his weight, too.’

With a busy household and two under-fours to look after, Kate’s feeling slightly fed up and, as a result, has said she wants help from William,’ our insider continues.

This comes after William himself confessed to being apprehensive about their new arrival.

Speaking at the Centrepoint Awards held at Kensington Palace in early February, William told guests, ‘Two is fine – I don’t know how I’m going to cope with three, I’m going to be permanently tired.’

UNITED FRONT

Despite their apparent differences, the couple have been keen to put on a united front in recent weeks.

They were all smiles when they made their first official joint royal engagement with Prince Harry and former Suits star Meghan, when the group – dubbed the ‘Fab Four’– attended the first annual Royal Foundation Forum in London.

And no doubt when baby number three arrives this April, Kate and William will be making up for lost time. We wish them all the best as they start their new chapter.

WELCOME DISTRACTIONS?

However, it seems William is finding lots to occupy him during the countdown to baby number three – in particular, his younger brother Prince Harry’s 19 May wedding to US actress Meghan Markle, which is threatening to take precedence.

With William widely thought to be taking on best man duties, the job of planning the stag do has fallen to him – and is beginning to take over – with rumours the party could be heading to Prince Andrew’s £13 million Chalet Helora in Verbier, in the Swiss Alps.

Our source continues, ‘Kate understands it’s an exciting time for Harry, but worries that William might end up spending more time thinking about his brother’s stag do than about the baby they are about to welcome.’
