TAKING THE MICKEY: There's something seriously wrong with this holiday snap
It’s important to remember that not everything you see on social media corresponds with real life.
Whether it be influencers showing off about free gifts, or celebrities Photoshopping their pictures, Instagram can wreak havoc with your brain.
To prove this point, British blogger Carolyn Stritch shared a photo of herself at Disneyland.

Size sexy: plus-size models

In the snap, she stands in the theme park with her arms outstretched in excitement.
Carolyn captioned the snap: “I’ve taken myself off to California. There I am in front of Sleeping Beauty's Castle – my crazy, self-indulgent 22nd birthday present to myself.
“Tomorrow I'll be back home and it'll be like it never even happened!
“I keep saying to myself: it's kind of fun to do the impossible. Life is what you make it.”
It wasn’t until the following day that Carolyn came clean about the photo.
You may have noticed that the image looked a little too perfect – there weren’t even any tourists caught in the background.
This is because the blogger didn’t actually go to Disneyland at all.
She expertly Photoshopped the snap to pretend she was there to make a statement about social media.
Carolyn reminded her followers that Instagrammers aren’t always honest about their pictures.
She admitted: “Instagram is apparently full of these ‘slim, prosperous, happy, extroverted and popular’ – a bit like my perfect self.
"I wanted my fictional narrative to challenge the way I portray myself online and the effects of this portrayal.”
The blogger added that she’s guilty of misleading her fans at times.
She confessed: "I don’t usually FaceApp my face or pretend I’ve been places I haven’t.
“But sometimes that coffee cup I’m holding is empty. I suck in my stomach. I rearrange the furniture.
“I photoshop out dirty marks made by bashing furniture off the walls.”

As social media piles on the pressure with unrealistic photoshopped images, celebs dare to bare in unedited and make-up free pics.
Carolyn isn’t the only social media star who has revealed the truth about Instagram.
