A little girl had to be pulled from a ‘stolen’ car that was apparently driven into a river.

The dramatic rescue by boat happened after the silver Mini was allegedly stolen with the youngster still sitting inside it.

It is thought to have been taken from the Cardigan area in west Wales at about 3.30pm on Monday, before ending up in the nearby River Teifi.

Rescuers in lifeboats managed to safely remove the three-year-old girl from the vehicle, and she has received medical attention.

The girl’s mum and other family members had been among the people posting desperate appeals on Facebook to find the car.
