He was famously axed from Strictly Come Dancing earlier this year, but rumour has it BBC bosses could be about to make a U-turn on their decision.

According to a TV insider, the team behind Strictly are struggling to find a tall replacement for Brendan.

“Bosses need a tall dancer to pair up with taller females like Charlotte Hawkins on the show but have been really struggling to find one,” the source revealed.

Brendan – whose partners including Natasha Kaplinksy, Lisa Snowdon and Kelly Brook have all been tall – was one of the tallest dancers on the show.

And its harder to find tall male dancers than you might think.

“Many of the shows professionals may look tall and hunky on screen, but in reality theyre often a lot shorter,” the source added.

“Most ballroom dancers are naturally shorter than most average men so its proving trickier than expected.”

Brendan was dropped from the show back in February after a very frank conversation ended his thirteen year stint on Strictly, but if they cant find a worthy replacement could this mean hell return?

The insider said: “Producers are still sifting through the pile and hope they find the right candidate in time. They have a few people in mind.”

Describing the moment he was axed from Strictly, the dad-of-two said: “It was a very frank conversation. They said, Listen Brendan, wed like to thank you for your time on the show but weve taken an editorial decision that we wont be renewing your contract next year.”

“Ive had pretty much every range of emotions over the last week from sadness to excitement. I love… I loved being a pro on Strictly. I loved the fact I was there from the beginning. One of the saddest bits is that it will go on and I wont be a part of it. Its like not being invited to the party. You know theyre having a good time and you want to be a part of it.

Chloe Hewitt is also rumoured to have been axed from this years line-up after she failed to make her mark during her first two years on the show.

After joining the show with AJ Pritchard two years ago, a source said: “While AJ has done well on the show, Chloe has been skipped over two years running when it came to celeb pairings.

“So while others perform every week, she has only danced with other pro dancers in the group numbers, and hasnt really made her mark.”
