Nifty Auto index settles in the green; Ashok Leyland, Tata Motors, M&M top gainers

NEW DELHI: The Nifty Auto index settled 0.38 per cent up at 11,626 on Monday, with shares of Ashok Leyland (up 1.45 per cent), Tata Motors (DVR) (up 1.38 per cent) and Mahindra & Mahindra (up 1.20 per cent) as the top gainers.

Shares of Tata Motors (up 1.14 per cent), Hero MotoCorp (up 0.50 per cent), Bharat Forge (up 0.45 per cent), Apollo Tyres (up 0.32 per cent), Maruti Suzuki India (up 0.29 per cent), TVS Motor Company (up 0.22 per cent) and Amara Raja Batteries (up 0.19 per cent) also settled in the green.

However, Eicher Motors (down 1.30 per cent), Bosch (down 0.89 per cent), MRF (down 0.74 per cent), Motherson Sumi Systems (down 0.35 per cent), Exide Industries (down 0.04 per cent) and Bajaj Auto (down 0.01 per cent) stood as the losers in the index.

Key equity indices closed Monday's session in the higher territory on gains in bank, financial, IT and FMCG stocks.

The BSE Sensex closed 191 points, or 0.55 per cent, up at 35,160 with 25 stocks advancing while 6 declining in trade.

The Nifty50 too clocked gains of 47 points or 0.44 per cent and settled at 10,739 with 33 stocks in the green and 16 in the red. One stock remained unchanged in the index.

YES Bank, Tata Consultancy Services, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Hindustan Unilever and Larsen & Toubro stood as the top gainers in the Nifty index.

Axis Bank, Reliance Industries and UPL remained the top losers in the Nifty pack of stocks on Monday.
