BUG OFF: This cheap oil has received rave reviews

No one wants to get bitten by midges or mosquitoes when theyre on holiday.

The pesky insects can leave you feeling itchy with unsightly bumps on the skin.

And thats not all, the bugs can also be carriers of serious infections, including malaria and yellow fever.

So is there a way to avoid being bitten?

Surprisingly, customers swear by this £2.25 Avon moisturiser.

Unlike the pungent smell of normal insect repellents, the affordable product is practically scentless.

The Skin So Soft oil is also believed to be more effective than traditional anti-bug spray.

The Royal Marines have even revealed that it can be an essential part of their kit.

Back in 2005, the marines discovered the cheap antidote when midges plagued their camp in Scotland.

The oil worked so well they ended up ditching their army issue repellent.

Royal Navy spokesman Neil Smith previously told The Scotsman: "It's not official kit but nothing works better and the Marines are buying it themselves because the midges are so bad up there."

If youre looking to try out the Avon product, you can purchase it online.

There are many other ways to repel insects.

The NHS recommends buying mosquito nets and plug-in products that deter the bugs from entering your rooms.

Spray-on products and repellant armbands can also be used when youre out and about on holiday.
