NEW DELHI: Gains in Kotak Mahindra Bank (up 1.12 per cent), IndusInd Bank (up 0.88 per cent) and HDFC Bank (up 0.50 per cent) were keeping the private bank index in the green in morning trade on Monday.

The Nifty Private Bank index was trading 0.29 per cent up at 15,200 around 10:20 am.

Shares of Axis Bank (up 0.45 per cent) and YES Bank (up 0.34 per cent) were also trading with tepid gains.

However, ICICI Bank (down 0.85 per cent), IDFC Bank (down 0.80 per cent), Federal Bank (down 0.61 per cent), RBL Bank (down 0.45 per cent) and South Indian Bank (down 0.20 per cent) were declining in trade, restricting the ascend of the private bank index.

Market was cautious after various exit polls released over the weekend suggests no clear winner in the Karnataka elections.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 15 points at 10,822, while the BSE Sensex was up 62 points at 35,598.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 27 were trading in the green, while 23 were in the red.

Dr. Reddy's Laboratories and Lupin were leading the pack of Nifty gainers, each rising over 2 per cent.

On the contrary, Coal India, Indiabulls Housing Finance and Titan were among the top losers in the Nifty index.
