The chief product officer and front man for Uber's flying taxi plans Jeff Holden is leaving the company to pursue other opportunities.

Holden, who joined the company in 2014 after leaving Groupon, has been at the forefront of Uber's new project Elevate and his resignation comes at a bad time for the project that now has started to be taken seriously. However, Eric Allison has taken over the role as head of Elevate.

In the last year, more than a dozen of Uber's senior executives have left the company for various reasons, most famously the former chief executive and co-founder Travis Kalanick who left because of high investor pressure.

This was after a series of scandals involving bad working conditions for Uber drivers and sexual harassment of passengers, and ever since, the new chief executive Dara Khosrowshahi has tried to rebuild the company's reputation.

Holden was involved in the launch of Uber's ride-sharing feature UberPool in 2015.
