Meghan Markle stunned the nation today when she walked down the aisle in a stunning Givenchy gown – and one of the most incredible and intricate veils weve ever seen.
Not only was the five-metre long veil the perfect finishing touch to her classic, elegant wedding dress, it also holds a special significance: made of silk tulle, it was embroidered with 53 individual flowers representing each of the countries of the Commonwealth.
And it clearly impressed Meghans new husband, with Harry whispereing to her as she approached, “You look amazing, absolutely gorgeous.”

The bridal gown was designed by acclaimed British designer Claire Waight Keller, who last year became the first female artistic director at the historic French fashion house – a perfect choice for Meghan, who regularly champions female causes.

Kensington Palace said in statement, After meeting her earlier this year, Markle chose to work with [Waight-Keller] for her timeless and elegant aesthetic, impeccable tailoring and relaxed demeanour.
The statement continued, Ms. Markle and Ms. Waight Keller worked closely together on the design. The dress epitomises a timeless minimal elegance referencing the codes of the iconic House of Givenchy and showcasing the expert craftsmanship of its world-renowned Parisian couture atelier founded in 1952.
What about Meghans tiara?
Meghans tiara is also particularly significant. Many speculated that the bride would opt for one from the Spencer family collection belonging to Harrys late mother, Princess Diana. But the tiara she chose to wear in fact belongs to the Queen – and Meghan wearing it speaks volumes about their relationship.
The Queen reportedly presented Meghan with a selection of her favourite tiaras and asked her to choose one to wear on the big day. On her wedding day, Diana famously turned down the offer of the Queens tiara, preferring to wear a Spencer tiara instead.

Speculation over the designer of Meghans wedding dress
Speculation has been rife for months regarding which dress Meghan would opt for. Royal fans took to Google to look for Meghans potential dress designer – with Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen the most searched. Erdem, Ralph & Russo and Carolina Herrera were also popular predictions.
Most of us had to wait until the Ceremony to see the dress, apart from one very important person – Her Majesty The Queen. The 92-year-old monarch got a sneak peak of Meghans gown before anyone else.
According to US Weekly, the Queen did the same with the Duchess of Cambridges wedding dress before she married Prince William back in 2011.
Speaking on ITVs Lorraine, royal correspondent Emily Andrews explained why.
“The Queen is going to see a sneak peak of Meghans dress because she has to approve it beforehand,” Emily divulged.
Its thought Meghan will wear two wedding dresses over the course of the day – a formal gown for the wedding ceremony at Windsor Castle and then change into something more glamorous for the evening reception at Frogmore house.
