After she tweeted a clever comeback, she was hailed as a social media hero.

Best job ever? The GLAMOROUS life of jetset airline pilot

Charlotte revealed that she had to put up with some snarky comments on one of her recent flights.

She recalled: “Had such a lovely day flying with a (great) crew.

“Baffled as to why two male passengers felt that these comments were necessary.

“I wont make any jokes about female drivers then.

“Are you a pilot? If Id known that I wouldnt have got on.”

Thankfully, the experienced flyer had the best comeback for the passengers.

In a tweet thats been liked 94,000 times, she retorted: “Fact is, I can fly an £80m jet, you cant.”

Charlotte added: “Being used to this kind of humour, my reaction of course was to be professional, laugh and ask them if they were enjoying the flight.

“It wasnt until later when a cabin crew member expressed her anger at the comment that it made me think. Why is this normal?”

She continued: “It is this attitude that puts women off and another barrier stopping them from going into male dominated careers.

“It shouldnt even be a thing! I am a pilot, he is a pilot. See, there is no difference.”

After Charlottes tweet went viral, many thanked her for speaking so openly about her experiences.

One Twitter user said: “I would be honoured to fly with you!”

Another agreed: “You are an inspiration to girls and young women Charlotte, what an amazing career youve embarked upon.”

Others revealed that they had witnessed people making similar comments to female workers.

One commenter revealed: “My wifes a pilot, every time she flies she gets a well done dear or similar from holidaymakers.”

A second wrote: “My mate has had similar comments as a truck driver.

“She pointed out she could also fly a 737. And the male in question could do neither!”
