NEW DELHI: As many as 166 stocks including Apollo Hospitals Enterprise, Ambuja Cements, BHEL, CEAT and Century Textiles & Industries hit 52-week lows on NSE despite market sentiment remained positive on Thursday.
Chennai Petroleum Corporation, Dena Bank, Engineers India, Godfrey Phillips India, HCC, HPCL, IDFC Bank, Jet Airways (India), LIC Housing Finance, MTNL, Tata Motors and UltraTech Cement also featured among stocks that touched 52-week lows on NSE today.
Domestic equity benchmarks Sensex and Nifty settled in the positive zone on gains in IT, bank, financial, telecom, pharma and metal stocks amid mixed global cues.
The Sensex surged 318 points, or 0.93 per cent, to finish at 34,663, while Nifty50 climbed 84 points, or 0.80 per cent to rest at 10,514.
In the Nifty pack, 34 stocks advanced and 16 declined, while in Sensex 24 remained in the green and 7 in the red.
Barring Nifty Auto and realty, all sectors closed with gains on Thursday, with Nifty IT at the top.
Tata Motors, GAIL, ONGC, Grasim, HPCL and Bajaj Auto remained the top losers in the Nifty index.
