NEW DELHI: Reliance Communications (number of shares traded: 1.69 crore) emerged as the most traded stock on NSE in morning trade on Friday.
Shares of the company came into the buzz on reports that negotiations between the company and Ericsson over the payment of pending dues have hit a fresh hurdle, with neither side agreeing on a timeline.
NCC (0.82 crore), PC Jeweller (0.46 crore), Vedanta (0.46 crore) and Indian Oil Corporation (0.41 crore) were up next.
Jaiprakash Associates (0.38 crore), Granules India (0.33 crore), GMR Infra (0.32 crore), Firstsource Solutions (0.32 crore) and IVRCL (0.30 crore) were also among the most traded stocks on NSE.
Equity benchmarks were in the positive territory despite weak global cues.
Gains in IT, bank, financial, metal and auto stocks were keeping the headline indices up.
The NSE Nifty index was trading 40 points up at 10,554, while the BSE Sensex was up 136 points at 34,799 around 09:45 am.
In the Nifty index, 39 stocks were trading with gains, while 11 were in the red.
Indian Oil Corporation, GAIL (India), Tata Steel, Hindalco Industries and NTPC were among top gainers in the Nifty index.
However, Vedanta, ITC, Bharti Infratel, State Bank of India and Grasim Industries were among the top Nifty losers.
