They didnt always see eye to eye during last years Strictly Come Dancing, but Shirley Ballas has now denied she had a spat with Brendan Cole.
Appearing on ITVs Loose Women today, the 57-year-old dancer laid to rest any rumours about her and Brendan not getting along.
“I never had a spat with Brendan Cole I want to make that clear,” she told the panel, including Ruth Langsford and Janet Street-Porter.
“I never had a spat with Brendan Cole. I didnt. I just gave my critique and people decide which way theyre going to take it.
“I did everything from a good place and I just wanted Charlotte [GMBs Charlotte Hawkins, Coles celebrity partner] to improve her performance,” Shirley added.
At the beginning of this year, it was revealed that the BBC had decided not to renew Brendans contract, despite him having appeared in 15 series.
Commenting on what she thinks Brendan will do next, Shirley said: “I think whatever he puts his mind to and wherever he goes he will do a divine job because Ive known him all his life, hes a hard worker, he has a beautiful family and I have faith in everything he does he will do a good job.”
Shirley, who replaced Len Goodman as head judge on the popular BBC show, went on to confirm that she had been asked back for the 2018 series of Strictly Come Dancing.
“Ive been verbally asked but as of yet I havent had a contract, but of course I would be highly delighted to go back on that most fabulous show. I had the time of my life,” she explained.
Asked if she will be paid the same as her predecessor Len, Shirley replied: “I do believe if a woman is doing the same job as a man then everybody should be on equal pay.
“But I do also understand that my first time on Strictly was like a trial so to speak. Youve got to see that you can do the job, so I felt that everybody was really happy and Im sure that they will be more than fair.”
