Victoria Beckham has spoken for the first time about attending the Royal Wedding – and even let slip what she really thought of Meghan Markles dress.
Despite failing to crack a smile during the big day, the fashion designer loved the occasion and was full of praise for the gorgeous Givenchy gown Meghan wore on Saturday to tie the knot with Prince Harry.
“I thought she looked absolutely beautiful,” says Victoria, 44. “It really suited her. I thought it was perfect for her. And Harry looked great.”
She adds: “It was such a beautiful, incredible wedding. It was just the best day.
“They looked so happy, and everybody was just so happy for them. Meghan seems like a genuinely lovely woman, who really loves him. It felt very real, very honest.”
Victoria divided fans by wearing a rather sombre navy frock – from her own label, of course – for the event at Windsor Castle, the same colour she opted for back in 2011 when she and David Beckham attended Prince William and Kate Middletons wedding.
It sounds like VB was much more comfortable this time around though after being heavily pregnant with daughter Harper at the previous do.
“Quite honestly, it was such a relief not to be hugely pregnant at this royal wedding that it was a joy to be able to choose anything I wanted to wear,” she tells the Evening Standard. “I love a bit of navy.”
And despite being in the presence of royalty, Victoria insists she wasnt nervy about being a guest, though would have felt pretty different if shed been in Meghans shoes.
“I wasnt nervous, no. I was just really honoured to have been invited,” the mum-of-four confesses. “I would have been nervous if it had been my day.”
Victoria might have been feeling good at the wedding but her rather unhappy expression attracted a lot of attention from viewers watching the event on TV, with writer Caitlin Moran tweeting: “Victoria Beckham must have cystitis. Its the only explanation for how furious she looks.”
