David Walliams has described Dame Barbara Windsor as “unbreakable” as he revealed the pair have enjoyed tea together.
Last month it was revealed that the actress has been diagnosed with Alzheimers disease and been living with the illness since 2014.
The Britains Got Talent judge shared a photograph of himself and Dame Barbara, 80, seated next to each other as he wraps his left arm around her and uses his other to hold her hand.
He wrote on Instagram: “Afternoon tea with the woman of my dreams ever since I was a boy, the unbreakable Dame Barbara Windsor.”
In the photograph, the former EastEnders star is resting her head on Davids shoulder and the pair are smiling widely.
David also shared the same picture on Twitter, writing: “Afternoon tea with a legend.”
In May, Dame Barbaras husband Scott Mitchell said she had been taking medication to manage her condition but that symptoms had worsened in recent weeks.
“Since her 80th birthday last August, a definite continual confusion has set in, so its becoming a lot more difficult for us to hide.
“Im doing this because I want us to be able to go out and, if something isnt quite right, it will be OK because people will now know that she has Alzheimers and will accept it for what it is.”
She and David have been close friends for years and his photo received hundreds of messages of support for the iconic EastEnders and Carry On actress.
“Many happy memories captured in these smiles,” one of Davids fans wrote. While others added: “Absolutely love this pair. Dame Barbara youre such a strong inspirational women. Carry on laughing,” “What a wonderful picture of you both, lots of love and a big gentle hug for her” and a simple but heartfelt, “We love you Barbara.”
