Stock market update: Smallcaps in sync with midcaps, outperform Sensex

NEW DELHI: In line with BSE Midcap, the smallcap index too was outperforming benchmark Sensex during the first half of Monday's session.

Around 11:55 am, the BSE Smallcap index was 0.90 per cent up at 17,038, while the Sensex was 0.47 per cent up at 35,611. The Nifty50 was 0.52 per cent up at 10,823.

Shares of Kirloskar Brothers (up 16.33 per cent), Andrew Yule & Company (up 13.84 per cent), Timken India (up 10.23 per cent), Dwarikesh Sugar Industries (up 9.17 per cent) and PC Jeweller (up 8.34 per cent) were among the top gainers in the smallcap index.

On the other hand, Intrasoft Technologies (down 5.84 per cent), Dynamatic Technologies (down 5.21 per cent), JBF Industries (down 4.99 per cent), Ricoh India (down 4.99 per cent) and Arrow Greentech (down 4.98 per cent) were among the top losers in the index around the same time.

Market sentiment was positive on buying in all sectors amid mixed global cues.

Telecom, pharma, consumer durables counters were witnessing decent buying interest.

In the Sensex index, 26 stocks were trading with gains, while 5 were incurring losses.

Bharti Airtel was leading the pack of Sensex gainers, rising over 3 per cent.
