NEW DELHI: Reliance Communications (number of shares traded: 1.90 crore) emerged as the most traded stocks on NSE in morning trade on Tuesday.
It was followed by Jaiprakash Associates (0.92 crore), ICICI Bank (0.72 crore), HFCL (0.36 crore) and SAIL (0.35 crore).
Vakrangee (0.34 crore), Vedanta (0.33 crore), Punjab National Bank (0.31 crore), Strides Shasun (0.25 crore) and Suzlon Energy (0.25 crore) also featured in the league of most traded stocks in that order.
Benchmark indices opened on a tepid note on Tuesday, tracking weakness across Asian markets after the US President's warning of imposing a 10 per cent tariff on $200 billion of Chinese goods.
Concerns over outflows from emerging markets too weighed on the sentiment.
The NSE Nifty index was trading 40 points down at 10,760, while the BSE Sensex was down 110 points at 35,438 around 09:45 am.
Lupin, Dr. Reddy's Laboratories, Tata Steel, Bajaj Finance and Tata Motors were topping the Nifty index.
On the contrary, BPCL, HPCL, Indian Oil Corporation, Vedanta and Infosys were among the top losers in the Nifty pack of stocks.
