NEW DELHI: Shares of Wheels India (up 20 per cent), Borosil Glass Works (up 13.67 per cent) and Mahindra Lifespace Developers (up 11.22 per cent) surged over 10 per cent on NSE on Tuesday despite weak market sentiment.

Shares of Jaiprakash Associates (up 9.09 per cent), UCO Bank (up 7.59 per cent) and V-Mart Retail (up 6.18 per cent) also saw decent traction on Tuesday.

Equity benchmarks extended their losses for the second consecutive day, weighed down by sustained selling in most sectors.

The Nifty index tanked 89 points, or 0.83 per cent, settling at 10,710, with 8 stocks advancing and 42 declining.

All sectors closed the day in the red on NSE. Nifty Realty, falling 2.01 per cent, emerged as the top loser among the sectoral indices.

Vedanta, Indian Oil Corporation and HPCL finished Tuesday's session as the top Nifty losers, each falling over 3 per cent.

Bajaj Finance, GAIL (India) and ITC stood as the top gainers in the Nifty index on Tuesday.
