Carol Vorderman

Carol Vorderman has opened up to Lorraine Kelly about how difficult it has been dealing with her mothers death one year on.

The former Countdown mastermind revealed on ITVs Lorraine show, that she just didnt cry when her mother passed last year.

Obviously Ive done a lot of thinking but my mum and I had a truly unique relationship. We could not have a closer bond and I could not have been a better daughter to my mum, Carol confessed to Lorraine.

The 57-year-old went on to open up about how difficult she found it to understand why she wasnt reacting to her mothers death in the ways that most people expect.

When it happened, I just didnt cry – people will say this is awful – but I just didnt think about her. It cant just be me who goes through this, Carol explained.

She continued: I was a little bit angry at one point, [but] I genuinely dont know the answer – I dont know how youre meant to feel. Why is it that I just havent cried? Its not every day and its not all the time and I just dont understand. When I was thinking about the anniversary of her death it hit me like a wave, and I couldnt stop crying, and then it just stopped and I woke up the next morning and I carried on.

Of course losing a loved one is bound to impact everyday life, and Carol spoke about how her life has changed since her mothers passing.

I took her everywhere, looked after her and did everything for her. I [now] have a freedom I didnt have before – it was a joy to look after her, the former Im A Celebrity star revealed.

But Im not lying, anyone with an elderly parent thats hard, I was with her everyday.

Thankfully though, it seems as though Carol has lots of support around her, including her fans who flocked to Twitter to show their support!
