Sheridan Smith has debuted a dramatically different look, as she announces the exciting news that she is set to star in a brand new, indie film.
The 36-year-old star shared the news on her social media that she is taking part in the soon-to-be-released The More You Ignore Me, a heartwarming new comedy-drama written by none other than Jo Brand.
Actress Sheridan revealed a sneak peek from the film. The actress shared a tweet originally posted by Dawn French, of Sheridan in the lead role of Gina – with Jo following behind.
And the superstar has undertaken a huge transformation in order to prepare for her latest role. While Sheridan usually sports a sleek blonde barnet, her character in the upcoming flick has darker, more unruly locks.
Sheridans new look is fitting for tortured character Gina, whose efforts to be a loving mother and wife are threatened by her declining mental health.
Set in 1980s rural England, Gina soon develops an obsession with the local weatherman, leading to her admission into a local psychiatric hospital.

But despite its dark themes the film also manages to bring warmth and humour to Ginas story through the portrayal of her relationship with her daughter, Alice, played by Ella Hunt.
For Alice, the big bad monster wasnt green and hiding under the bed, it sat in the kitchen saying bollocks a lot. Prone to psychotic episodes, or on the road to bonkersville as Alices dad would say, Alices mum Gina isnt easy to live with, reads the description of the original novel penned by Jo.
Of the movie adaptation, Jo said on the Graham Norton Show, “I am really proud of it but not sure whether it is good or not. I cant really believe it has happened.”
And it looks as though fans of Sheridan cant wait for the release of her latest project. Many of her followers sent excited social media messages to the share, to reveal how much theyre looking forward to seeing the flick.
One fan wrote, We have been waiting so long for this, cant believe its just around the corner. So excited! x
