Go on a night out in London and youll soon clock that it isnt the hedonistic paradise it once was.

Everywheres shut by 2am, the drinks cost a small fortune and loads of the best independent venues are closed or shutting down.

So its no surprise that when it comes to the best party cities in the world, our capital comes in at number 30.

No, for a real wild one, you need to head up north to Manchester – which has just won the title of the worlds wildest city.

The capital of the north beat 112 other global cities in a study by MoveHub.com, which looked at alcohol consumption, weed consumption, cocaine consumption and the number of nightlife venues relative to the population.

Manchester was found to be the greenest city in the study, with 2.3 tonnes of cannabis being consumed per 100,000 people, and also had the highest proportion of venues per person, with 818 places per 100,000.

Top 10 party cities

  1. Manchester
  2. Washington DC
  3. Miami
  4. Seattle
  5. San Francisco
  6. Leeds
  7. Denver
  8. Boston
  9. Paris
  10. Lyon

Although us Londoners sniff as much coke as Manchunians and consume as much booze, our cannabis consumption is considerably lower and we have far, far fewer nightlife venues at just 120 per 100,000 people.

Perhaps Londons Night Czar, Amy Lamé, could learn a few things from Manchesters nighttime economy advisor, Sacha Lord, who is also the founder of Parklife and the Warehouse Project.

Other UK cities on the list included Birmingham (14th), Glasgow (22nd) and Edinburgh (23rd).
