Andrea McLean isnt shy when it comes to talking about the menopause.
In fact, the Loose Women lady is so open that she even penned a book called Confessions of a Menopausal Woman where she explains how to recognise and deal with the emotional and physical changes that can happen.
And now 48-year-old Andrea has got even more candid about her body as shes spoken out about one rather personal symptom.
“I began getting hot flushes during the day,” the 48-year-old told Closer.
“Which caused problems at work as Id be interviewing someone live on TV and the sweat would run off me.”
Revealing the nifty tricks she used to try and stop the sweat ruining her clothes, the telly presenter continued: “Our stylist stuck panty liners under my arms to soak up the sweat and I even had underarm Botox. It worked, but it was horrendously painful.”
Meanwhile, the mum-of-two – who shares daughter Amy, 11, with former husband Steven Toms, and son Finlay, 16, with ex Nick Green – also opened up about her new found love with hubby of eight months Nick Feeney.
“You dont expect to fall in love when youre going through the menopause”, she said. “On our first date we went for dinner and I told him I was menopausal. I held nothing back, and he still asked me out again!” How sweet is that?
The pair met in 2016 on a blind date which was set up by a makeup artist on Loose Women, and the TV star has described him as her rock as she went through a painful hysterectomy in 2016.
Admitting shes now embracing her changes, Andrea added: “The great thing about the menopause is that its made me accept who I am. I have a side thats vulnerable and scared, but Ive always tried to look like Im coping.
“Now, Ive stopped pretending that everythings perfect and that Im always the shiny person you see on TV”.
