GOOGLE MAPS: The street view tool has spotted the world's largest swimming pool
During the UK heatwave, the only thing on our minds is dipping into a cool swimming pool.
But Google Maps – the street view tool – has photographed a pool that is far from ordinary.
In fact the pool, which is located in San Alfonso del Mar resort in Algarrobo, in Chile, is the largest in the world.

The pool measures a whopping 1,013 metres in length, covering a total of eight hectares.
Back in 2006, it was listed as the largest swimming pool by area in the Guinness Book of World Records.
The ginormous pool can hold 250 million litres of water and is the equivalent to around eight 6,000 metre-long pools.

The major tourist attraction welcomes scores of Chileans and foreigns each year.
It is right next to the sea, which raises the question as to why the resort needs an enormous body of water on their land.
The explanation behind this is that the water on the Chilean cost is cold and dangerous.
The founder of the resort, Fernando Fischmann, decided to create a large lagoon for visitors to swim and enjoy water sports safely.

This enormous pool isn't the only incredible site picked up by Google Maps.
Previously the 3D mapping service spotted the worlds largest Coca-Cola advert sign in the Chilean desert.
It also captured the beautiful heart-shaped island in the Adriatic Sea.
