Vanessa Feltzs fiancé Ben Ofoedu says the presenter is worth every penny of her whopping £339,999 BBC pay.

Following a recent BBC salary report, Ben, 46, has defended her annual pay, claiming she has to dumb down her intelligence for the job.

Bens comments come after Vanessa was revealed as the BBCs second highest earning woman, raking almost £340,000 a year, after Claudia Winkleman, 46, and 16th highest overall.

Just hours after the list was released on Wednesday, music producer Ben, who got engaged to Vanessa in 2006, spoke about his fiancées pay at the Swaye VIP launch party in London.

“I think Vanessas a fantastic journalist and shes been relevant since 1993,” he told The Sun, adding: “Shes the most honest and real person.”

The lead singer of dance act Phats & Small also argued that he would like to see other women as versatile and intelligent as Vanessa.

He said: “I think the BBC value her and shes good at what she does.

“She doesnt actually drive a hard bargain at all, Vanessa does the job that no-one else can do — she can go from radio to entertainment shows to reality.

“Id like to see another woman as intelligent as Vanessa, she has to come down from her intelligence to chat to people in conversations.”

Last year, it was reported that Vanessa earned between £350-399k at the BBC as host of Radio 2s Early Breakfast and Radio London, though she was only one of a few women to feature on the list.

Despite the outcry at the lack of equal pay at the beeb, Vanessa said she would “probably not” have signed a letter written by her female colleagues demanding the same salary as the male presenters.

Vanessa argued that the report into the BBC salaries was “prurient and voyeuristic”, and that the issue was “more complicated” than simple discrimination.

“Its nobodys business how much I earn,” she said.
