Strictly Come Dancing judge Shirley Ballas has bared all in an incredibly candid revelation of her breast cancer scare – thanking the NHS and urging fans to take care of themselves.

Taking to her Instagram account, the 57-year-old ballroom expert has opened up about her scary ordeal.

Sharing a snap of a breast cancer awareness poster, which explains how women can routinely check themselves for any early signs of change in their body, Shirley writes of her gratitude to the NHS.

Explaining her scary order, the Strictly judge writes, “I had a routine check at the doctors and she was not happy with what she felt and saw in my breast”, before explaining that she was swiftly sent to another hospital for a monogram.

Shirley then urged her follows to act with the same haste as she did, “We go about our daily lives always busy and sometimes ignoring our body. If something changes externally or you have any discomfort at all its your body telling you “take care of me”.

Signing off the important post, Shirley then adds: “We have one beautiful body we need to keep it well taken care of. Thank you again to the NHS for being so marvellous”.

@nhs_inc I do not have enough words to express my gratitude to the NHS. I had a routine check at the doctors and she was not happy with what she felt and saw in my breast. Immediately sent me to Clatterbridge hospital for a mammogram and ultra sound. I urge all women particularly over 50 to get checked. We go about our daily lives always busy and sometimes ignoring our body. If something changes externally or you have any discomfort at all it's your body telling you "take care of me " DONT PUT IT OFF. Early detection is key to getting better. I have Cancer in my family line so I will be being vigilant ,, To all the beautiful women out there young and old get checked regularly. We have one beautiful body we need to keep it well taken care of. Thank you again to the NHS for being so marvelous. #gratitude #NHS [email protected]. #breastcancer #takecare #selfcare #nationalhealthservice #yourbody

Fans have been quick to comment kind messages on Shirleys post. One user shares, “Oh my gosh Shirley Im so glad youre okay! But youre absolutely right in everything you said there.. we all could do with being more vigilant”.

Agreeing, another writes, “Absolutely, check anything unusual. I noticed something strange from my left breast & after tests “to be on the safe side” cancer was found in my right breast!! Can not fault the NHS & early detection is key!!”.

Shirley is due to appear back as her role as head judge on Strictly this autumn, alongside Craig Revel Horwood, Bruno Tonioli and Darcey Bussell.

Back in June, Craig had told the Express, “Shirley is back with us, which will be great. I think it is a great team and it was really good last year, I cant wait to get back into it”.
