Amazon founder Jeff Bezos parents invested $245,573 (£187,120) in the company in 1995, a year after it started. Now, those shares could be worth up to $30bn.
Jackie and Mike Bezos were warned at the time that there was a 70 per cent chance they might never see that money again, according to Bloomberg. That same stake, three stock splits and one public listing later, would make them wealthier than Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen.
Though the Bezos familys shareholdings havent been made public knowledge since 1999, their continuous donation of Amazon shares to the Bezos Family Foundation over the years suggests their stockpile cant be doing too badly.

It is thought the couple could own roughly 16.6m shares today, which equates to 3.4 per cent of the company.
Jeff Bezos, meanwhile, is now the richest man in modern history with a fortune of $150bn (£113bn).
Amazons share price has hit record highs in recent weeks, after the e-commerce giants profits doubled consensus estimates to top $2bn for the first time in its second quarter.
