Our heart went out to actress Lisa Riley as she paid tribute to her late mother Cath over the weekend.
The former Emmerdale star – who lost her mother at the age of 57 to cancer in 2012 – took to social media to reflect on her mothers passing, sharing a sweet throwback photo of them together.
“My mum was taken from us as a family six years ago today. Each day I miss her more and more. Wanting to hear her voice, to say: Its all going to be alright, and how much she loves me,” she captioned the photo, which showed them smiling as they warmly embraced one another.
“For everyone close to me, they know the UNBREAKABLE BOND me and my mum have, it was ALWAYS me and Mum against the world. Sometimes I cant cope to fly solo without her, sometimes I have to be honest and say: What would Mum do right now, how would she cope?……I would give anything to see her smile which was wider than mine.”
Talking about her recent engagement to her secret fiancé Al, the 42-year-old added: “For her to see me now, feeling truly loved by the most special man I could ever wish to have, Ive made a promise to myself going forward to help me through my grief by not having her by my side, craving her presence.
“I have promised to do her proud more and more each day. This way I can focus on the positive when the pain gets to strong. I love you MUM”
Within seconds, fans rushed to comment on the photo, as they praised Lisa on her achievements, including her incredible fitness journey which saw her lose an impressive 12st 6lbs in 18 months.
“I understand how you feel @lisajanerileybut she would be so proud of you x” one supportive follower wrote.
“Your mum loves you too ! Im sure she is mega proud. Your mum would want you to be happy and she will be smiling down.Mums know everything x” another said.
“She would be so proud of you, you are an amazing lady. Sending you lots of love,” a third added.
Cath was diagnosed with cancer in 2000, and passed away 11 years later in Lisas arms, after the disease spread.
Speaking about her mothers painful passing at the time, Lisa said: “She died in my arms. She was at my house. The entire family was there and we laughed together on the morning that she passed away.
“That was Mum. It was wonderful. She had dignity. She was fun and smiles to the very, very end.
“I got my personality from her and I hate to describe her with the word bubbly, which is always used about me, but that is exactly what she was. We were inseparable and she has left a big legacy.”
Aww. Were thinking of you, Lisa!
