The presenters mother passed away in August 2012 after a long battle with dementia. Lindas devastating blow came years after her father passed away at the age of just 57, after a battle with lung cancer.
Since then, Linda has campaigned to raise awareness of the effects of smoking – taking part in a campaign for the British Lung Foundation to stop smoking in cars with children on board.
Speaking about her mothers passing last year, Linda confessed that although the moment was painful, her actual death was a rather peaceful experience.
She told Lorraine, My mum had the nicest death. She was surrounded by us (her family) in the room and she died peacefully in her sleep.
And, of her mothers carers, she said, ”I can never thank them enough for what they did for her and us,”
