As they prepare to return to royal duties after their holidays, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are set to join forces with David Beckham for a special cause.
Becks has revealed that hes going to be an ambassador for Harrys upcoming Invictus Games, which will see 500 wounded and paralysed veterans and current forces servicemen and women compete in 11 adaptive sports.
Former footballer David, 43, spoke of his excitement when he announced the news on social media.
“Ive been lucky enough to meet and work with many serving, veteran and wounded British armed forces personnel over the years and Ive been humbled by the courage, resilience and spirit shown by each and every one of them,” the dad-of-four told his Instagram fans.
“The entire Invictus Games team, led by the Duke of Sussex, has achieved remarkable things in such a short space of time, using sport as a powerful force to rehabilitate and unite and I cant wait to be part of the energy and the excellence of the Games this year.”
Davids followers were thrilled about his new role, with one commenting: “Very exciting to have you onboard with The Invictus Games!”
Another said: “This is fantastic news!”
Harry, 33, created the Invictus Games in 2014 and will be joined by Meghan, 37, in Australia for this years event.
Kensington Palace confirmed in June that, as well as being in Sydney for the Games which kick off on 20 October, the newlyweds will also tour New Zealand, Fiji and Tonga on their trip.
Its unclear exactly how long the visit will be but reports have claimed that Meghan has already been given guidance on her wardrobe.
“Meghan is being told she needs to stop dressing like a Hollywood star and start dressing like a Royal,” a source claimed to the Daily Mail. “Meghan wanted to wear a tuxedo-style suit but Harry said it wasnt traditional enough.”
However, Meghan has previously worn tuxedos for royal engagements.
In the meantime she and Harry will return to work next week following some time off, with their first appearance set for Wednesday 29 August at a gala performance of West End musical Hamilton in support of the charity Sentebale.
