When the hit BBC show comes back on our screens every autumn, all anybody can talk about is that dreaded Strictly curse.
But now this years contestant Kate Silverton has opened up about how Strictly Come Dancing has actually improved her marriage.
Speaking on todays Good Morning Britain, the newsreader revealed that spending so much time with her professional partner Aljaz Skorjanec has “energised” her relationship with Mike Heron.
“I would call it marriage magic… He did say to me, if the roles were reversed. Yeah, it wouldnt happen!”, the 48-year-old told hosts Susanna Reid and Piers Morgan.
“My husband is very, very cool with it, and more to the point is loving the impact its having on his wife.”
When cheeky Piers then pressed her for more details, she coyly added, “No, its early morning! How have I got into this?”, before confirming that the show had “energised” her marriage.
But Piers, 53, clearly wasnt letting Kate get away with it that easily as he later said, “Im not going back to your rampant sex life thats clearly exploding.”
Kate – who shares two children Wilbur and Clemency with her husband of eight years Mike – wowed the audience and judges with her Tango to No Roots by Alice Merton on Saturday.
But she also opened up about how different doing the show is to her day job, admitting, “We are dealing with very serious issues the whole time, that is our world, as journalists. I turned it down before, the timing wasnt right. This year it just felt like the right thing to be doing.”
“Im loving it. This is a nice interlude. Its also allowing me to talk about childrens mental health.”
Speaking on the link between mental health and dance, she added, “I now realise how addictive dance is… the endorphin levels, it reduces cortisol. It just makes you feel good to be alive and you are getting fit, whats not to love?”
