The love story of Kate Middleton and Prince William is one many of us know well. And one of the most well-known facts about their romance is that the pair first met over 10 years ago at the University of St. Andrews.

The summit is being co-hosted by the UK Government and the OECD. The Mental Health Summit will see political figures, leading academics and policy-makers from around the world come together with one common goal: better mental health for all. The meeting will help countries work together to deal with stigma attached to mental health and address other issues to do with mental ill-health

But what most of us might not have been aware of is the fact that, reportedly, the Duchess actually saved William from dropping out of his course at the uni.

A new Amazon Prime documentary, Kate Middleton: Working Class to Windsor, has claimed that Kate persuaded her future husband to stick around at St. Andrews – as aides claimed that his dropping out would have been a disaster.

One royal aide reportedly said, “It would have been a personal disaster for William – he would have been seen as a quitter.”

Royal editor Camilla Tominey revealed on the documentary how Kate encouraged William to stick it out, and to do a different course – instead of leaving.

She said, “They were friends at St Andrews before they went on to start going out with each other.

“Kate, at the time, counselled William with changing his course – she encouraged him not to leave and go back down to London but to stick with it and do something a little bit different.”

In the end, Prince William swapped from his Art History degree to Geography – a subject considered to be more suited to the royal.

Meanwhile, Catherine continued with her Art History course – and both eventually achieved an impressive 2.1 grade for their efforts.

Its not clear why the Duke of Cambridge was originally considering leaving university. But he did receive a pretty huge amount of media attention when he first joined – which may have made for a difficult time settling into uni life.

Of course, Kate and William went on to share a house in their second year, with some of their mutual friends. And it was then that their budding friendship blossomed into romance.

In their engagement interview, Kate Middleton revealed that she was originally super-nervous to meet Prince William – as we probably all would be!

She confessed, “I actually went bright red when I met you, and scuttled off, I was very shy about meeting you.

“But actually William wasnt there for quite a bit of term initially, so it did take a while for us to get to know each other.”

Discussing their eventual moving in together, William also said, “We moved in together as friends – we lived with a couple of others then as well. And it just sort of blossomed from there really, we just saw more of each other and hung out more.”

Aww – what an adorable couple!
