Ruth Langsford had a cringe-worthy moment live on Loose Women as she reflected on her long-spanning career as a TV presenter.

Discussing retro TV shows with her fellow panelists, the 58-year-old couldnt hide her embarrassment when footage emerged of her time on now defunct channel Television South West (TSW).
Before the clip was rolled, Ruth said, “Apparently theres been a clip of me unearthed – literally it was dug up.
“Ive not seen this yet so Im guessing… it was 1989 so I was 27, I think I might have a perm, I might have some shoulder pads and probably was quite posh because we were all very proper on television in those days.”
Stacey Solomon then quipped that TSW started before she was born, prompting Ruth to jokingly respond, “Ive gone right off you.”
In the throwback segment Ruth sports a longer chestnut brown hairdo and ticks the boxes for 80s power dressing by wearing a jacket complete with shoulder pads.
The latter certainly proved a hit with Stacey who said, “I loved a shoulder pad!
On her time spent on the show Ruth gushed, “And that was my favourite job ever, I was a continuity presenter.
“You wrote all your own scripts, you just read stuff out, had a chat, talked about the programmes and had shoulder pads out to here.”
TSW closed in 1992 and Ruth has gone on to front a number of shows in addition to Loose Women including This Morning alongside husband and fellow TV presenting legend Eamonn Holmes.
And it seems no matter how embarrassed the star was of her TV younger self, she is still prepared to inject some lightness and humour into her time on TV.
Taking to Instagram yesterday she shared a video of a hand jive competition she participated in on Loose Women and the audience couldnt get enough.
One wrote, Didnt think she could be any more talented.
While another added: Youre so enjoyable to watch Ruth.
