Venturing down to the basement of an abandoned building, YouTuber Sanivle found a pair of high-security double hermetic doors.

As he walked through the doors, the explorer finds a secret Russian nuclear bunker hidden in plain sight beneath the building in Kaunas, Lithuania.

Footage of the adventure shows the exact moment Sanivle finds a desolate underground passage under the gothic city.

Like something from a horror movie, he moves around the strange bunker with only a light for comfort.

In the 20-room bunker, the explorer finds everything from radiation readers and air filtration systems, to stock rooms filled with gas masks.

Scavenging through files, he finds cabinets filled with mysterious documents written in Russian, including plans and water supplies for the city above.

The bunker not only had a functional water supply, but a hi-tech telecommunications room filled with phones and equipment, as well as a vinyl player and earphones.

Sanivle believes the bunker was created in the event of nuclear warfare hitting the streets of Lithuania.

During the Soviet Unions occupation of Lithuania, the office building above (which dates back to the 1970s) was believed to be an exclusive retail location – making the amount of supplies in the bunker all the more remarkable.

It is believed the bunker could accommodate up to 250 people, including state officials, the Emergency Management Commission and the Ministry of National Defence.

Speaking of his discovery, Sanivle said: “Regrettably, sooner or later this place will disappear.

“The building will be demolished in the near future and the fate of this underground site is not clear.”

Sanivle has decided not to reveal the location of the building in order to preserve its top-secret contents.
