Facebook is down for thousands of users this afternoon.
Users of the social networking sites are reporting that they are unable to login, with others noting that Facebook is showing an error message which reads:
"Sorry, Something Went Wrong"
Down Detector, an independent outage monitor that tracks outages across the globe by monitoring social mentions has seen a huge spike in reports for both social networks in the last hour.
The Down Detector outage map shows the Facebook issues are mainly affecting users of the social networks who are based in the UK, Europe with reports in their thousands, topping out at over 3000 in one instance.
There has been no word on what's caused the outage for now – but we'll update this page as soon as anything official has been confirmed.
But natually, those thousands of Facebook users have taken to Twitter (of all places) to complain about the outage.
One Twitter user posted: “So #facebookdown and I almost had a heart attack”.
Whilst another complained: “@facebook anything happening with accounts authentication? Cant recover my account and neither login!”
It's worth, however, heeding the warning of this particular user who mentioned that people are happily sharing screenshots of their login details.
“So many people reporting that Facebook is down with images exposing their username (email or phone number)”.
