TRAVEL REVIEW: Enjoy a getaway in London (Pic: Hotel Indigo London Kensington )
January is upon us and for many the post-Christmas blues may have sunk in, so for those of us back in work following the festive break, a weekend getaway might be the perfect way to lift spirits.
Many are cash-strapped in January – making a mini-holiday nearly impossible – but you dont need to spend money booking trips abroad to enjoy a little downtime post-Christmas.
While many will be seeking the sun, others are still clinging on to mulled wine and festive activities, which is why staying in London might be right up their street.
We enjoyed a break courtesy of Hotel Indigo London Kensington, which is part of the IHG Rewards Club. Heres our review on our stay, food and things to do…

Hotel Indigo London Kensington
The hotel is a three-minute walk from Earls Court, making it the perfect spot for exploring London.
Not only is the hotel accessible, but its also joined to Theos Simple Italian, a popular and affordable restaurant that offers all-day trattoria dining.
Despite its prime location and restaurant that allows you to open your door and fall into a bowl of pasta, Hotel Indigo is also a refreshing stay.
The hotel has modern finishes with splashes of retro designs, where images of London landmarks adorn the walls and staircases to fully immerse you in your London experience.
The bedrooms too are contemporary – ours featured a huge sepia mural and a spa-themed bathroom with an amazing shower, its important to note here: fluffy dressing gowns were included.
Also important to note, the stocked mini-fridge at Hotel Indigo is part of the stay, so you can help yourself at no extra charge.

Post-skate and check-in we headed straight downstairs to Theos Simple Italian – a classic, rustic Italian offering food from acclaimed chef Theo Randall.
Important to note: The focaccia is freshly baked in the morning and is warmed through before it lands on your table – its absolutely divine.
There are antipasti sharing boards to start and plenty of classic and speciality pasta dishes to choose from, a bowl of the good stuff costs as little as £11.50.
If you choose bed and breakfast at the hotel youll also be in Theos for your breakfast, they topped us up with coffee post-avocado and eggs in a takeaway cup to start us off the right way.
